Re: Corrupt graphics on lucid when resizing windows?
Thanks, that seems to have fixed the problem. Do you know what particular visual effect causes the problem? I'd prefer to just disable that one, rather than put everything in low-effects mode.

Corrupt graphics on lucid when resizing windows?
I've got a fit-pc2 that I'd like to use as a desktop machine. I installed Ubuntu Lucid (desktop version) on it, and then followed the instructions at: http://www.fit-pc2.com/wiki/index.php/Installing_Ubuntu_9.10 ...substituting "lucid" for "karmic" where applicable. (In other words, I installed the ...

As mentioned on the other thread, turning off hyperthreading made the problem go away.

Re: ACPI Kernel issue
Solution!
I turned off hyperthreading and haven't had the problem since. My uptime is five days, whereas before this, it was usually less than 24 hours.

Re: ACPI Kernel issue
I switched to GV3 Only, and even plugged the machine into a non-gigE switch, in case it was somehow related to gigabit ethernet. Still happens. I'll try memtest next.
If it turns out my machine is defective, how much time do I have from the purchase date to discover and report it?

Re: ACPI Kernel issue
I'm having a problem on a brand-new fitpc2 that's doing a lot of heavy disk / network operations. The kernel dumps a bunch of trace beginning with: BUG: unable to handle kernel paging request at ff09dfc0 IP: [<c0150300>] kthread_should_stop+0x10/0x20 or BUG: unable to handle kernel paging request at...

I'm afraid the problem is still happening. I'll mention it on the other thread.

Will do. Is this a known issue? If you have a link to all the nerdful details, I'd love to read it.

I haven't changed anything in the BIOS; Processor Full Speed is set to "Enabled" .. should I change it?
