Thank you startit_ltd for this detailed feedback and tricks.
I plan to install Linux Mint 17 “Qiana” KDE, just because I'm accustomed to KDE and like the tools.
Aside the advantage of being lightweight, does anyone has some thoughts about KDE vs XFCE on FitPC2i ?

Re: Linux mint 17
For me 17 installed fine except for the sound which is unuseable. Oh really ? :o Good to know, I'll try again then... I just bought a new SSD to replace the USB key as storage for FitPC2i. I think I'll try Mint17 again for a fresh install... (and I don't mind about not having sound, this is for hea...

Re: Booting off CF Card
The SSD price have droped a lot, I've just bought 64GB SATA SSD to get rid of usb keys and have higher speed.
64GB is too much, I needed 8GB at most, but it's only 37€ so...
This time there won't be any problem to boot I hope
The CF Card and its adapter were just wasted money

Re: Linux mint 17
Report: I failed to install Linux Mint 17 from Mate 32 bits ISO image (black screen during boot of installer). I installed Linux Mint 13 (Mate 32 bits ISO image too) without any workaround. 8-) Maybe graphics aren't optimal, but I don't care: it's for an headless server ;) I'll try a partial upgrade...

Re: Linux mint 17
I'm about to re-install a fresh Linux on my FitPC2i. My Mandriva key just died... I tried Mageia 4, no luck... I'm back to the most supported Linux for this hardware: Mint. Same question: what's new about Linux Mint 17 and FitPC2i ? Does the install tricks for Mint 13 still work ,for Mint 17 ? Or sh...

Re: Please report any SD boot success
I'm back on trying to boot on mini SD card... yogev_ezra's post (mentionned above) has some information about SD boot success... By the way, yogev_ezra did you maid some partitions on SD, once you wrote the floppy image at the beginning of it ? Is it ok ? I'm not sure about how to deal with the MBR...

Re: Both analog and digital output with one adapter ?
Note that similar cables that come with digital camcorders (and often also sold separately) usually have different pinout, incompatible with fit-PC2i. I'll double check them ;) And maybe it will turn out that left audio is actually the spdif, etc. Just a mater of colors, jacks to label properly. Bu...

Re: Booting off CF Card
Self-reply :
I've found a page which claims that even if my CF-SATA adapter is bootable, not all CF are bootable ...
(and the compatible ones advertised are very expensive)
I think I'll go back trying to boot of SD...

Re: The Fit-PC2 as a high-end audio PC
I wish to get uncompressed digital audio out a USB port, into a DAC, (...) (...) I haven't used a CD player for some years now: carefully set up, the PC is typically far better. Though, obviously, it works only with USB DACs, the Fit-PC makes an outstanding audio player. Can anyone tell me: why sho...

Re: fit-PC2 as remote music player
I'm planning on setting up my fit-PC2 as a remote headless music player Me too. (but FitPC2i - Linux) I've set up the Fit as a dedicated music server, using the Squeezebox line of equipment. See the thread in the Server section. Here it is. By the way, Squeezebox Touch seems nice, but then I no lon...
