Re: coreboot for Intense PC/MintBox 2
I have updated the coreboot wiki with the current support status of the Intense PC/MintBox 2: https://www.coreboot.org/Board:compulab/intense_pc Thanks go to Irad who sent me the FM-LAN-E4-U4 FACE module! The FACE module highlighted an issue with PCIe bus initialization, but this has been fixed and ...

Re: fitlet2 performance
What would be the advantage of choosing the Atom E3950 over the Celeron J3455? Does it have lower idle power consumption? Better performance in another area I haven't considered? Here's a comparison of the two CPUs: https://ark.intel.com/compare/95594,96488 The only important difference is that Ato...

fitlet2 RAM compatibility
CompuLab has provided me with a link to their list of qualified modules for the fitlet2:
http://fit-pc.com/wiki/index.php/RAM_mo ... C_products
I would recommend checking the list before purchasing any memory to ensure it's compatible.

DisplayPort 1.2 MST
According to the specification for Intel Apollo Lake, the Atom/Celeron in the fitlet2 supports DisplayPort 1.2 and should therefore support DisplayPort MST. I have two 4K displays with MST support. Using my Dell E7250 (5th gen Core i5) I am able to use DisplayPort MST and have both monitors daisy ch...

Re: Intel E3950 availability
What mW is recommended to maximize performance and not overwhelming the passive cooling? In my opinion (I do not speak for CompuLab) you shouldn't need to set any limit. All modern Intel CPUs will thermal throttle if they become too hot, so there is no need to manually set the TDP limit in BIOS. If...

MintBox 2 CSM
It would appear the the MintBox 2 doesn't support fully native UEFI booting, by which I mean even in "UEFI Boot" mode, the CSM still runs. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unified_Extensible_Firmware_Interface#CSM_booting I have disabled Legacy Boot in the graphical configuration tool, however when gru...

CentOS 7
I can confirm that CentOS 7 installs and runs perfectly on the Mint Box 2 in UEFI mode. The two SSDs are in mdadm RAID 1. Performance is quite good, however it seems that the mSATA slot is only SATA 3Gb/s and not SATA 6Gb/s. Specs: Mint Box 2 (i5-3337U, 4GB RAM) 128GB Crucial MX100 SSD (2.5", /dev/s...
