Post Boot from USB WES
I am trying to make a USB boot disk for Windows Embedded Standard for the FIT PC2i

I have successfully made a FAT32 Dos USB boot disk that works OK!
(Boot Sector points to MSDOS.sys etc.)

If I make a FAT32 XP formatted disk I just get a 'Disk Error' when booting?
(Boot Sector points to NTLDR)

Can you tell me the combination that works for the FIT PC?

1. Do you use WES 2009 or WES 7?

2. Do you use USB Hard Disk Drive or USB Flash Drive?

Leonid - thank so much for your reply.

I have spent literally hours trying to get this disk to boot into Windows (WES). It WORKS!

So for anyone else wanting to boot to a USB stick the above link works!
Well Almost, you also have to edit the boot.ini to point to the correct drive.

My advice is to set the boot.ini ‘time out’ to 30 so you can see what is going on.

also on my system Windows Embedded had the boot.ini pointing at the wrong disk: disk(1), the bottom line should look something like this:
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows Embedded" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect

thanks again!
