Random NIC Failure

Hi,

I have the FITPC3 with the 4 x NIC & 4 USB FACE module running as a firewall using IPCop firewall with all the patches installed. The cable modem is connected to the NIC on the rear of the device and the internal network is connected to the leftmost NIC on the front via a Netgear 8 x 1GB port switch. WiFi is not active and no other devices are connected to the other NIC ports. The HDD has been changed for an SSD.

Normally the green light on the fron port flashes and the orange light is steady but periodically the orange light goes out and the internal network loses internet connectivity nor is it possible to connect to the IPCop web interface. The only way to recover connectivity is to power the device off and back on again.

Any ideas?

Richard

It may be a crash of the ethernet controller or the driver. We have no experience with IPCOP, but before trying anything else I would check about known issues and a driver for Intel 82583.

Thanks
