USB 3.0 UASP Support

Post by pion »

Who is the maker of USB 3.0?

Is the UASP support there, what are the rates measured?

Also, are the USB 3.0 connected drives bootable?

USB 3 controller is integrated in the APU.
I don't know the answers to the other questions.

irads,

Please check if you could with AMD, or it's internal documentation, on the UASP feature.

All my new USB enclosures will have USB 3.0 with UASP regardless if the fitlet supports it. It's just too good a feature to have.
But, I can't check AMD's documentation. It's not generally available to the public.

I don't expect a quick answer, as it's lower priority than many other things.

Yes it does. Every USB3.0 host does.

UASP is driver level.

Now devices often don't support it.

Yes, that appears to be the case.

My 2 year old netbook has a USB 3.0 port. So when I needed a new, external enclosure, I made sure it had both eSATA III and USB 3.0 with UASP. But, I assumed I would not be able to use the UASP feature on the netbook. betaflame's note prompted me to re-build my Gentoo Linux kernel with UASP support. A quick test showed that it loaded the UAS driver whence I connected my enclosure. (I did not do speed tests...)

So I would say UASP on fitlet should work fine, IF the Linux kernel or MS-Windows version supports UASP.
