FitLet does not turn on when power is restored

Post by grindrod »

Good afternoon.

I am trying to setup a FitLet PC for remote access to some equipment we have on several sites.

The first one is working perfectly. After the first one tested effective, we ordered another 30 units.

The supplier delivered the first 5 last week.

On some of the new units the option in the BIOS is missing where you set the FitLet to power up automatically.

I have read on the forum that the feature was removed in order to optimize the Auto-ON functionality.

My FitLet however, does not turn on when the power is restored at all.

If I unplug it and plug it back within a minute it comes on.

If I leave it unplugged for more than 5 minutes, the FitLet does not turn on unless I press the button myself.

When the FitLet then boots up, the date and time is out aswell.

Can you please give me some advice to fix this issue so that the FitLet will turn on as soon as the power is supplied?

Kind Regards

Hello,

Please contact Maxim support@fit-pc.com to proceed discussion.
We will need the serial number of the working fitlet and of the failing ones.

First thing I would check is if there is a problem with the RTC battery.
We will also check if the difference in behavior is related to different hardware revisions.

Thanks,

I too have received several of the Mintbox Mini Pro's and have one unit thus far that has the exact same symptoms as mentioned here. If the mintbox is without power for more than a few minutes, it will not power itself back on when it receives power again unless you press the power button manually. Also, the date/timestamp reverts to an older date of Feb 2016.

Not sure what to check regarding the RTC battery. Is there a procedure for what to check on this?

Thanks,

Hi All

I am still waiting for an answer since May 07 for the exact same problem.

EDIT: In fact I would like to know what I have to do to HARDWIRE the unit
so that power on is guaranteed. I now have multiple units with the same problem and it is becoming a safety issue with unauthorised people getting into electrical enclosures.

Since fitlet HW Rev 1.4 auto on mechanism implemented in HW and is the only behavior when power resumed.

If the fitlet doesn't behave so, please consider RMA:
