Fitlet-B with a RT OS

Post by bibo01 »

I am running a fitlet-B with a RT ArchLinux.
Although the device has only one ethernet port, when I establish RT IRQ priority, the system "senses" 4 LANs (probably present on the motherboard). Can I totally disable the extra "ghost" connections.
Obviously, if I give "ip addr show" command, I only see one port.

I don't know about RT ArchLinux, but some network drivers use multiple paths.

Once saw a fancy network driver and associated port support several virtual
connections so that it appeared to the host as several ports. This was used so
that you could allocate bandwidth to these virtual ports. If I recall correctly, it
was a SysKonnect Gigabit Ethernet PCI card. (Back when server style 1Gbps
Ethernet cards were >$1,000.)

Modern Intel Ethernet chips are starting to include lots of features. Perhaps this
is one.

You might checkout Intel's site and get the manual for the fitlet's network chip.
