Making custom FACET-cards

Hi,

I'm curious about the manufacturability of custom FACET-cards. Can I simply follow the footprint, attach to 3.3V, GND and USB using the miniPCI-connector, and do whatever I want?

(Assuming I stay within power-limits etc offcourse).

Also, is there any option of attaching to a "native" serial port using the miniPCI-connector, allowing the FACET-card to interact like a serial-console even during fairly early boot-stages, such as for an OS supporting serial-console during boot?

You could do a FACET as you suggest. Normally FACET is usable in professional PCB design and manufacturing. The GPIO connector and adapter can be more effective for personal projects.

BIOS supports serial console redirection that takes place before OS is loaded.
