I3M not working Linux Mint 18 Cinnamon

Using Linux Mint 18 Cinnamon Airtop
Not sure if I've missed anything

Using this link
http://fit-pc.com/wiki/index.php/Airtop ... nux_Daemon
and this software
http://www.fit-pc2.com/download/airtop/ ... pstart.deb

Still occuring after several reboots
it's not showing any stastics besides whether it's booted and it's power usage.

Code: Select all

ps aux | grep airtop
avahi 1023 0.0 0.0 44920 3108 ? Ss 16:24 0:00 avahi-daemon: running [airtop.local]
It's showing CPU Temp _ (GPU is not showing up even more as GPU Temp _ and I have a Nvidia GTX 750. The Nvidia software however does show the temp of the card.

sensors (from lm-sensors) also shows temperature

Code: Select all

sensors
acpitz-virtual-0
Adapter: Virtual device
temp1: +27.8°C (crit = +101.0°C)
temp2: +29.8°C (crit = +101.0°C)

coretemp-isa-0000
Adapter: ISA adapter
Physical id 0: +40.0°C (high = +86.0°C, crit = +96.0°C)
Core 0: +39.0°C (high = +86.0°C, crit = +96.0°C)
Core 1: +39.0°C (high = +86.0°C, crit = +96.0°C)
Core 2: +39.0°C (high = +86.0°C, crit = +96.0°C)
Core 3: +39.0°C (high = +86.0°C, crit = +96.0°C)

It appears this was resolved
http://fit-pc.com/wiki/index.php/Airtop ... nux_Daemon

I can confirm it works on Linux Mint 18 Cinnamon. It is showing the cpu temperature (based on sensors command?)
Make sure to uninstall the original package!

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get remove airtop-fpsvc
It does not however show the gpu temperature for the Nvidia 750Ti. I might be missing some package to detect it.

It looks like this was fixed by at least July 28th (would of liked some kind of notice here but that's ok).

I3M not working Linux Mint 18.1 Cinnamon (also)

Post by JSL »

Hi,

I love my Airtop, but after upgrading Mint cinnamon 18 (64-bit) to 18.1, my GDM crashed often. Lately it has stopped crashing, but the I3M GPU and CPU temperatures are no longer being displayed.

Assuming some API compatibility issue, I checked for a new version of the Linux I3M .deb package. There has been no update of airtop-fpsvc_1.0-1_systemd.deb for quite some time so I decided to try to update my BIOS/ME and I3M firmware. The BIOS update went okay (after I restored grub-efi to working order). The ME seemed to go okay as well. The I3M update did not go so well. According to the Wiki, one must press the left and right I3M buttons while applying power (after power has been unplugged for a while). When I do this, all I get is a blank I3M display. I never see any indication of anything being placed into "bootloader" mode. I tried doing the update while the display is blank and get the error shown in the attached photo. (I also tried the update while doing different iterations of I3M torture, but always got the same result.)

What is the secret incantation to make the I3M firmware update?

The current Application Version of my I3M module is:
11:38:58
01 Mar 2016
VER: 0.84

Thanks,
Jeff

Hello Jeff,

Thank you for your inquiry. We are checking that with our SW engineers.

Hi Jeff,

Regarding placing the front panel in bootloader mode, you need to hold the buttons until the words "bootloader <version>" appear on the front panel. It typically means holding them for a few seconds.

However, you don't need to update the front panel firmware. The GPU and CPU temperatures are not displayed because the Linux Front Panel daemon is not working.

Try reinstalling the daemon (see this link).
If after installation you still don't see the temperatures changing, post the output of cat /var/log/syslog | grep airtop-fpsvc.

Regards,
Nikita Kiryanov
