video output questions

Post by znelbok »

Hi Guys

The Fit2 is looking great. I have a couple of questions

I want to use this with an in wall touch screen where the fit PC is installed inside the wall cavity. One thing I am not sure about is the video output. It says DVI out via HDMI connector.

Most touchscreen I have worked with have analog input only. Can the Fit2 be used with an analog screen.

Just to confirm, because it is DVI and not HDMI, there is no digital audio output either? (for xbmc install).

Is it possible that HDMI will be an option down the track

You are right that the video output is digital only, no analog. One of the reasons for this connector is the small size (regular DVI or VGA connector is much bigger). And you are also right that there is no digital audio, only analog.

You can use Fit-PC2 with analog screen if you also get an HDMI to VGA converter. But those converters are not cheap (around 120-150$ USA) and they also require power source.

I suggest using a USB->VGA adapter. They are generally much cheaper than a DVI->VGA converter. Unfortunately, this will draw ~2.5W more power than normal, and would occupy a USB slot.
