HDMI and audio

Post by 3beezer »

Is it possible to use the HDMI output of the Fit-PC2 for audio output under Linux? For example, suppose that I play a sound file. Will the sound reach a device (e.g., a home theater receiver) connected with HDMI? Or does audio traverse HDMI only when accompanying a video signal?

audio only goes over a HDMI connector when the device is generating a HDMI signal. This device does not, it has a HDMI connector only because it is smaller than a DVI connector. The device comes with a HDMI->DVI adapter. Some users have had success connecting directly to a hdmi tv, but that is only because hdmi is compatable with dvi signaling.

There is no digital audio with this product. It is very sad. Visit the various threads over in the 'wishlist' section for further reading.
