HDCP support?

Post by MattW »

Since the Fit-PC2 has HDMI out, does this mean that it can playback Blu-ray (HDCP)? assuming that there is a Blu-ray available to the Fit-PC2...

No. fit-PC2 does not support HDCP which is part of the HDMI standard.

This statement/answer implies something that is not quite true - though I don't doubt fit-PC2 lacks HDCP support.

While HDMI does, indeed, mandate HDCP, this does not imply that DVI cannot implement it.

For a pertinent article on the subject, see this url (though there are plenty of sources of discussion on this point).

My Sharp LCD TV happens to be one such device with a DVI input that supports HDCP.

You may be more familiar with the subject than I am. I'll share what I know -
SDVO to HDMI conversion chips by Chrontel and Silicon-Image have built in HDCP decoder. The SDVO to DVI converters do not have it.

I don't know what is the possibility to decipher HDCP in software on the fly.
