I'm just curious, in the BIOS, is it possible to select any USB port to boot to? I.e., could one have 6 different thumb drives (just hypothetically) attached and go into the BIOS and select any one of those to boot from?

No. You cannot specify which port to use. The first bootable USB device will be used.
