Controlling a mobile robot

Post by prscouter »

Would the fit-PC2 do well at things such as running embedded services, streaming video, processing video (from a webcam) and running from a battery supply?

fit-PC2 will do better than other PCs, but using a netbook can make the battery part easier.

Some have been running fit-pc slim on a SLA battery. If you can fit a SLA battery on the robot, I do not see any problems.

I've also read that Fit-pc runs about 9 hrs on the battery. How is the power requirement of fit-pc2 compared to fit-pc slim?

fit-PC2 power consumption in a headless setup should be better because of better CPU power management.

Anyone else using fit-pc2 for a mobile robot brain?

I have been building a walking hexapod with fit-pc2 as the controller. I am using OpenCV and I am very happy so far with the results!

Wow! Very impressive! :o
Now if only it did not have power cord connected to it...

That's the coolest application I have seen with fit-PC2.
I added a link to the clip from http://fit-pc2.com/wiki/index.php?title=Case_studies
