New fit-PC2i thoughts - old logs on new pc

Post by NHpc2 »

I received my Fit-PC2i (v1.2, Ubuntu Linux) this past week and it's great. My office is so quiet now that I'm not using my Dell desktop except for when I need the Dell to do something the Fit isn't configured for.

One thing I just discovered is that the hard drive has log data dating back to at least October of last year. One log file dates back to June of 2008. I suspect the data may have come from the Ubuntu distribution and isn't actually indicative of someone having used this hard drive back in 2008, though I could be wrong. I wonder what I might find if I scanned the freespace on the hard drive...

The folks that prepare the systems for distribution might want to first clear out /var/log before making the master ISOs, just in case there's some data in the log files that shouldn't be shared.

The log file is probably a residue from the Linux image preparation.
Each system is imaged from a factory master before shipping. We never ship systems with 2nd hand installations.
