Hi again,

My new FIT PC2 XP playes videofiles generated on a Sony Cybershot DCS-WX1 chuppy. Most of the time it is smooth, but every 5-8 seconds it makes a stop/go.

The FIT PC is setup with a screen resolution of 1360x768.

Im playing i fullscreen mode using the Media Player classic delivered as part of the pc.

Any idears. I have a lot of thees files, and will get more:-)

MPEG4, 1280x720, 29,97fps
Audio: AAC 384kbps

How do I see the codec name?

Have tried to set my resolution to 1280x720. It does not help. It plays smoothly if the video windows is made small.

The format is DivX/Xvid.

I did go for the Windows XP version as you mention that as the multimedia pc on your homepage.

Would I have been better off by changing it to a Win7 version? Or, is there drawback there. Use of the Fit-PC: Connected to our TV, it shall be used for music, pictures and videos (DVD and own videos).

to see codec name right click in mpc-hc during playback and look under filters.
there is a chance mp4 playback will be better in win7

I think the codec is MPEG2, but not sure. The information is below.

However, if you open the files with AVS Video converter, it mentioned the compression type as MPEG4 (DivX/Xvid)

This filter does not use HW acceleration.

OK, not optimal for me.

However, I can convert the videos to H264. It will work.

Do you think it will work if I use Win7 instead. I could make a deal with my local reseller. But, If it does not make a difference Im perfectly happy with the current XP version. Just your best guess, pelase?

H264 on XP is the best.
Windows 7 has built-in codecs that support H264, MPEG4 and WMV. I believe that at 720p they will be adequate.

Another thing you can try is Mplayer with FFMPEG on XP. Still without acceleration, but just enough to playback 720p decently.
