Re: [INFO] Ubuntu 10.04 LTS working, 12.04 LTS cannot instal
Upon logging to the machine, I got a message:
Quote:
New release 'precise' available.
Run 'do-release-upgrade' to upgrade to it.
I run "sudo do-release-upgrade" but after a few checks it failed:
Quote:
No i686 CPU
Your system uses an i586 CPU or a CPU that does not have the 'cmov'
extension. All packages were built with optimizations requiring i686
as the minimal architecture. It is not possible to upgrade your
system to a new Ubuntu release with this hardware.
Restoring original system state
Aborting
It looks like it is not possible to upgrade 10.04 LTS to 12.04.1 LTS due to the non-PAE kernel issue. IMHO, it should upgrade ... Also, starting from 12.10 non-PAE kernels will not be officially supported by Ubuntu. I guess the only way to move forward of 10.04 LTS is a fresh install with a custom-built installation media or install something like Lubuntu/Xubuntu that offers non-PAE support, as described at
http://www.webupd8.org/2012/05/how-to-i ... n-pae.htmlIf any other option is available for upgrade, I would be glad to hear!
