fit-Uptime with USB port for A.C. / battery status

A great many home and small office UPSes now include USB ports instead of serial ports to allow monitoring when power fails, and the amount of time left on the battery. Recently I just got my APC UPS working for another server using it's USB port. Works great.

It would be nice if an additional model of fit-Uptime had a USB port that acted per the USB UPS protocol. Please note the USB side should be firmware updatable, since many problems arise with UPSes that have bugs in the USB UPS protocol. Being able to update the firmware would help.

Further, it should not be too hard to add a USB Type A pass-through port on the fit-Uptime, (at least USB 2.0 / 480Mbps). But, have this port take it's power from the fit-Uptime instead. Plus, allow charging of devices during power fail, (like a cell-phone to report the power failure).

Thanks for sharing. Yes, we're thinking of it in the next fit-Uptime generation.
