Fit VGA Connector issue with FitPC3 Pro (using Ubuntu/Mint)

Post by mattrk »

Hello,

I have a FitPC3 Pro and a Fit VGA Connector. I use the PC with a VGA monitor. I use Ubuntu Linux and Linux Mint as operating systems.

When I use the open source drivers the set-up it works OK. However, when I enable the hardware acceleration (i.e. use the latest fglrx drivers) then I can see the boot sequence but then the screen goes blank when it boots into Ubuntu/Mint (and the monitor light begins to flash, like it is receiving no input). I can see the screen with my brother's newer monitor and an HDMI cable... so I know Linux is not broken.

This is really frustrating for me. I really want to enable hardware support because otherwise I cannot properly play videos. It would probably also help with coping with Ubuntu's growing levels of eye candy. Can anyone please help? Should this work or does the VGA Connector have unmentioned limitations?

Edit: The issue is the same as that mentioned at: http://www.fit-pc.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=72&t=2744

Thanks.

Unfortunately, fglrx drivers can't be used with a FitVGA. This is a closed source driver limitation.
Please refer to http://www.fit-pc.com/wiki/index.php/Co ... an_fit-PC2 for the technical details.
