Post Re: PXE boot in FitPC3
So still after a half year almost with this FitPC3 - I'm still not able to use it for anything!
Since it should be using PXE boot - which was promised - but really lousy support and reply time!

We are facing some technical problems with the PXE boot feature. We will try to release the BIOS update ASAP

Post Re: PXE boot in FitPC3
BTW:
After testing iPXE and gPXE we have found only direct booting with a
gpxe on usb stick with this embeded script gives stable results:
Code:
  #!gpxe
  dhcp any
  set username xxx
  set password yyy
  sanboot iscsi:10.0.0.1:::1:iqn.2000-01.com.xy.ab:cde.fgh

Chainloading ipxe or scripts with gpxe does hang to often (randomly?).

The iPXE (the successor of gpxe) does have trouble opening the
NIC (e.g. does not send frames out).

Any suggestions?

Hi Guys,

Just flashed latest BIOS a FITPC3, BZ_2.1.0.333_9 X64 (5/1/2012) assume US dates so 1st May 2012.
Yes it gives me LAN Boot [Enabled]
Yes it shows up in Boot priority order "Onboard LAN"
but when ever I boot nothing happens, I get black screen for a few secs and then a Boot menu with 1 option to boot to HDD

any ideas ?

Hi.

Please enter to BIOS Setup. Open the AMD->Platform Settings submenu and change the "LAN Boot" option from "Disabled" to "Enabled".

Same here. LAN Boot es enabled and priority is set to Onboard LAN, after a few seconds HDD is booted.
Is there supposed to be any info on screen ? Sure would be nice.
Also tried it with UEFI enabled and Legacy disabled, which gives me the selection menu with just the HDD showing up in the boot options.
I hope this can be fixed soon.

Cheers,
Axel

It looks like the PXE option should be enabled in the Realtek Lan Controller.
You should update the controller's firmware.

The package contains two files: pg8168.exe and 8168def.cfg

Copy these files to the USB Flash Drive that was prepared for BIOS updating.
Boot to the DOS and type the following command:

pg8168 /efuse /manchg

The "PG EFuse is Successful!!!" message should appear.

Perform "cold reboot" at the end of the process.

Please, don't hesitate to contact me if you need more information about the process that is described above.
