fitVGA with fitPC3 linux

Post by Dave442 »

I purchased a fitPC3 (Mint15) and have an older Samsung monitor (SyncMaster 933) with only a VGA hook up. (The monitor was running on an Ubuntu computer previously.) I purchased a fitVGA adaptor to hook up the new fitPC3 to the monitor. When I power up the computer I see the Phoenix/BIOS screen and then the Mint logo but the monitor goes to standby immediately after this.
I've hooked up the new fitPC box to a different monitor using HDMI alone and it's working fine. I've hooked up my laptop (which runs Mint13) to the old monitor using VGA and it displays without a problem.
Is there an issue with Mint15 or the fitVGA? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

fit-VGA is not compatible with fit-PC3.
You can return the fit-VGA and be refunded.

I can suggest two solutions in order to connect an analog display to fit-PC3:
1. 3rd party DP to VGA adapters – several adapters have been tested and qualified by CompuLab
a. Dell: http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/prod ... u=330-4685
b. HP: http://www8.hp.com/uk/en/products/oas/p ... id=3955073
c. Others: http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_odkw=HP ... r&_sacat=0

2. 3rd party HDMI to VGA adapters – haven’t been qualified yet by CompuLab (should be soon).
If you’d like to connect your analog display via HDMI port, you’re welcome to try:

Thanks for your reply and suggestions. the web site should be changed to state that it is not compatible;

"fit-VGA is a converter for connecting fit-PC computers to analog VGA displays."
