Please double check that you have changed the "forcedisablejd"'s value to 01 at all it's location in the registry.

yes I have now double checked the entire registry hive.

there was just the one entry. it reads 01

Please open Realtek HD Audio Manager and attach the screenshot of it to the post.

I have searched thru installed software, file system and can see no mention of this 'Realtek HD Audio Manager'.

I am using windows 8.

Is this be something i could download?

rechecked the reg setting as before and still OK - set to 01.

I am unable to confirm your issue. Please make a fresh setup of Win8 x64 and install the provided audio driver. Then enter regedit utility and search for "forcedisablejd" string. Replace it's value to 01 at any locations it will be found (about 2). Restart your PC.

blue tooth speakers are looking more and more a better idea right now.
