Dual-mode DisplayPort for DVI

Post by ChrisV »

Hi,

I want to connect my MintBox (Basic) to two DVI monitors, but I'm unclear whether the DisplayPort is dual-mode (DisplayPort++) or not.

If I understand well, this affects which type of connector I would require:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0035PS57C
http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B004SUO1GM

I found the post about 'Problem with DisplayPort-to-DVI Adapters'
http://www.fit-pc.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=84&t=2978
but got rather lost in the details.

In short, does the MintBox
- have dual-mode DisplayPort (DisplayPort++)?
- have dual-mode DisplayPort which must be set in the BIOS?
- not have dual-mode DisplayPort at all?

Thanks, Chris

The DisplayPort in MintBox supports one display.
Dual head is achieved using primary HDMI and secondary DP.

Thanks for your reply, but I understood that one monitor plugs into the HDMI port and the other into the DisplayPort. I already have an HDMI-DVI cable for the first monitor, but I am unclear what type of connector I need to purchase for the DisplayPort-DVI connection.

If I understand correctly, if the MintBox DisplayPort is dual-mode (DisplayPort++) then I only need the (cheaper) standard DisplayPort-DVI adapter, but if it is not dual-mode, I would need the (more expensive) 'active' adapter (links to both included in original post).

Thanks, Chris

Fit-PC3 features a DP++, so you can use a passive DP2HDMI adapter.
