Success installing 8.10 and boxee! Need help with mplayer va

Post by stapo101 »

Ok,

I managed to install 8.10 out of the box and then the poulsbo drivers from the ubuntu-mobile repository. This allows me to run a good install of boxee which plays videos and flash content such as youtube. However, I'm not getting greedy...I still want to be able to play HD videos but I can't seem to install mplayer vaapi.

I have tried following the instructions found here: http://www.splitted-desktop.com/~gbeauc ... yer-vaapi/ but I can't ever get the libva-dev package to install. There seems to be dependency issues with libdrm.

I have even in desperation tried to install mplayer -vaapi from the fit-pc repository but that fails to install also.

Is there anyone out there far smarter than me who can give me some guidance?

Thanks

Hi,
did you know that there is an official Compulabs repository for this (with custom kernel, mplayer and poulsbo driver)?
I just dont know if it is also available for 8.10.
