Disabling built-in IR receiver

Post by afjafj »

I am using my fit-PC with an external IR transciever plugged into the USB - I do this because I need both transmit AND receive.

The problem seems to be that the driver for this device always attaches itself to the internal IR device, so IR is only recieved through the built in detector - not the one on the external device.
I'm using Ubuntu 9.10 and wonder if there's a way I can effectively "hide" the internal IR device from the driver?

Blacklist lirc_igorplugusb in /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf
Compulab's Linux support
