Hi,
I have tried to install my new Fit-PC2i with no success.
Corsair 256GB P256 SSD and WD WD6400BEVT disks have been used with exactly the same results.
The disks are correctly recognized in BIOS.
Linux, including Fedora and Ubuntu will only detect internal 4GB NAND drive.
modprobing pata-sch doesn't resolves the problem.
Windows 7 will correctly detect 4GB NAND and any other hard drive installed, but will refuse to install unless the 4GB NAND drive is BIOS disabled.
Any help will be appreciated.

Re: Fit-PC2i hard drive problem
Windows 7 will install, I didnt finish this installation as I am planning to use my system under the Linux.
Linux will behave exactly the same as with 4GB NAND enabled.

Re: Fit-PC2i hard drive problem
16 GB available hard disk space (32-bit) - one of system requirements for Windows7. That is the reason why your installation failed.

Re: Fit-PC2i hard drive problem
I think the easiest way to get it running (assuming you are to install ubuntu) is to plug the drive using an usb adapter, install ubuntu and last but very important is to get the fit-pc2 kernel as per instruction from the wiki. After that you can just put the drive inside and set the bios to boot from it.
If I am not mistaken the patch Denis is referring to is already in that kernel (at least that did the trick for me, I have installed ubuntu 9.10; if you want to install a different distro then you would have to build your own kernel including the path mentioned by Denis BEFORE putting the drive in the bay).
I have also noted that the wired network connectivity is lost after some time and seems to be due to entering a lower power state; that can be solved by setting the Processor Performance to disable in the bios (I think it might be solved by setting it to gv3 only also, but I am not sure of that and what would be the benefit).
If would be great if all this information is included in the wiki. For sure it would have saved me a whole lot of time.
All the best,
Roberto.

Re: Fit-PC2i hard drive problem
Thanks to everyone for helping.
Today I had some time to continue this installation, here is what I did:
Installed Fedora 12 on second PC, Applied viewtopic.php?f=9&t=1409 patch and compiled FitPC2.cf12.i686 kernel.
Installed Fedora 12 on Fit-PC2i hard drive using USB dock.
Installed patched kernel.
Installed hard drive into Fit-PC2i.
Fit-PC2i boots correctly patched Fedora 12 kernel.
The problem I am having now that Fedora 12 sees only one Ethernet interface, I continued the following:
Installed Windows 7.
Installed Fit-PC2 chipset drivers from Fit-PC2 site.
Installed Ethernet controller drivers from Fit-PC2 site.
At any stage Windows 7 didn't detect second Ethernet interface.
Applied latest bios update from Fit-PC2 site.
Second interface is still undetectable.
Am I having hardware problem?
Thanks in advance,
Radomir

Re: Fit-PC2i hard drive problem
ethernet drivers on fit-pc2 website may be outdated. try drivers for 8111c from realtek website.
Re: Fit-PC2i hard drive problem
I did try latest Windows and Linux drivers from Realtek without much success.
To be more precise, I also have updated LAN adapter form here viewtopic.php?f=50&t=1471.
It seems that LAN1_UPD.BAT executes correctly.
PG8168.EXE complies about invalid argument when invoked from LAN2_UPD.BAT.
There is also no LED activity after connecting Ethernet cable to the Eth1 connector.

Re: Fit-PC2i hard drive problem
If eth1 is working and eth2 isn't it might be a hw problem.

Do you know how long typically it takes them to get back on return request?
I have sent them an e-mail more than week ago and still haven’t had any feedback.
