CFG80211 messages filling log

Post by petervk »

Hi,

I have a fitPC2 running Ubuntu 10.04.

The power options have been set to spin down the HDD when possible, however it never seems to do so.

I can see from /var/log/messages there is a bunch of messages inserted into the log every 2 mins, for example:

Code: Select all

Jul 11 13:11:36 myfitpc kernel: [ 2594.158003] 80211> CFG80211_Scaning ==>
Jul 11 13:11:36 myfitpc kernel: [ 2594.197696] 80211> CFG80211_Scaning ==>
Jul 11 13:11:36 myfitpc kernel: [ 2594.311216] 80211> CFG80211_Scaning ==>
Jul 11 13:11:37 myfitpc kernel: [ 2595.764167] 80211> CFG80211_Scaning ==>
Jul 11 13:11:38 myfitpc kernel: [ 2596.066772] 80211> CFG80211_Scaning ==>
Jul 11 13:11:38 myfitpc kernel: [ 2596.174529] 80211> CFG80211_Scaning ==>
Jul 11 13:11:38 myfitpc kernel: [ 2596.270056] 80211> CFG80211_Scaning ==>
Jul 11 13:11:38 myfitpc kernel: [ 2596.271861] 80211> CFG80211_Scaning ==>
I leave the fitpc connected to a WIFI network. Any ideas on how to stop this message getting put into the logs?

Thanks,
Peter

Hi,

Thanks for the reply. Really? So this means the HDD MUST always be spinning even if there is no activity? Seems quite a shame to waste that extra power unnecessarily.

Is there any way to disable these messages?
