Intel Poulsbo USB client controller driver(IUSBC) on FitPC2i

Post by deva »

I am working on a project in which we would like the fit-pc to work as a USB slave.
I have googled the chipset and it seems the Intel Poulsbo USB chipset is able to work in this mode.
Some time back a drivers was in development but it never made it to the mainline kernel, for unknown reasons.

This is from the mailing list:
http://markmail.org/message/ac2oc77uvla ... te:results

First of all:
Can anybody confirm that this driver should work on the fit-pc2i?

Secondly:
Can anybody help me get this driver working?
I have successfully patched the 2.6.30.3 kernel with the patch from the mailinglist.
The iusbc driver loads successfully (ie. without reporting any errors) but i camnnot load the g_zero gadget module.
It fails with the following error message:

MyFitPC ~ # modprobe g_zero
FATAL: Error inserting g_zero (/lib/modules/2.6.30.3-fitpc2i/kernel/drivers/usb/gadget/g_zero.ko): No such device

It drags the iusbc module in with it:
MyFitPC ~ # lsmod
Module Size Used by
iusbc 17660 0

I would be very grateful if a CompuLab developer or other equally experienced with the Fit-PC2i chip-set could confirm that the Poulsbo USB controller in the Fit-PC2i is capable of working in gadget mode, i.e. work as a USB slave instead of master when connected to another PC?

FitPC2i has no USB slave ports. All ports work in a master mode. Please consider to check our CM-iTC module as a solution.

Hi Gabriel

Thank you for your reply.

I am not referring to a native USB slave port but rather the Poulsbo USB controller's ability to work i gadget mode in which it supposedly should be able to emulate for example a mass storage device or a network card.

Please see my initial post for more details.

Does the Fit-PC2i not use this controller?

The Intel Poulsbo USB client controller has an option to use one of their 8 USB ports as an USB slave, but this option is unpopulated in the FitPC2i. Sorry
