Ubuntu 12.04 on fit-pc2 - for dummies.

My Fit-PC2 still had Ubuntu 8.04 on it. If I want to install Ubuntu 12.04 on it what problems am I going to have in performing the install from the LiveCD vis a USB stick? Can I just use the defaults and then update the kernel to get video driver support, or do I have to do some black magic to get it to work?

All important data has been moved to another PC, so I would like to do a clean install. I don't need to have the wifi working and I tend to access it remotely (using NX NOMachine).

Regards

M

Because of the gma500 drivers issues, the latest Ubuntu version doesn't provides sufficient video performance, so if a video acceleration is important to you, I suggest you to use a Linux Mint 9 for now.
You can find the installation instructions here http://www.fit-pc.com/wiki/index.php/In ... nux_Mint_9

On other hand, we are validating now the latest Linux Mint release (13 LTS), so, maybe you prefer to wait a little more for upcoming most recent release.
