MintBox 2 -- Analog Audio Problem

Following on my other post (the VGA dongle issue), I'm also having some difficulty getting the 3.5 mm analog stereo audio jack to do what I think it ought to do.

I plugged in a set of stereo headphones. No sound came out.

I checked the audio icon on the task bar, and it offers only the HDMI digital sound output option.

I ran one of the sound utilities (Preferences >> Sound), and it listed the analog jack. I selected that option, and was offered a window with a sound test. I pressed the "Front Left" button, and heard the test from the left earpiece. I pressed the "Front Right" button and heard nothing.

I unplugged the headset and plugged it back in. It was detected, but there was no change in left/right output.

I unplugged it again. When I plugged it back in, the analog audio did not appear in the list of options. Repeated attempts also failed to detect the headphones.

I have since rebooted the unit four or five times. There is no change. Plugging in a 3.5 mm connector for headphones or mini speakers still shows no entry in the audio hardware list.

Any suggestions?

Please verify HW is fine. It can be easily done under Windows after installing all the drivers.

Windows
In case it has no sound output under Windows you should apply registry patch to set constant audio out signal (in case Intense PC HW rev1.1 or broken detection pin):
1. Go to Windows Registry by typing regedit.exe in cmd
2. Go to Location:                 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E96C-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}\0000\Settings]
3. Change value data:         ForceDisableJD = hex:01

Linux
Will check with our Linux expert.

Sorry, I should have been more clear.

It's a MintBox 2 running Mint 16 Linux.

Windows drivers will not be appropriate.

I'm currently running audio through the stereo jack on my (HDMI) monitor. This works okay.

My apologies for the huge delay in responding. Life has been busy.
