How to update BOIS on WIN8.1 UEFI Machine?

Post by slavazh »

After the installation of win 8 the only device I can boot from is the internal SSD. In the BOIS under boot options the only option that I have is Windows boot manger.

please advice.

Hi slavazh,

The UEFI upgrade image provided by CompuLab is designed to be "burned" onto a USB key. If BIOS does not list any options to boot off devices other than the Windows boot manager I would recommend removing your SSD and plugging in the USB key with the firmware upgrade on it.

The Intense PC should then correctly identify the USB key as bootable media and begin booting into the DOS environment used to flash a new firmware.

In the future we will supply a tool to update the BIOS from Windows 8 itself.
As if you'll update the BIOS in regular way, there might be issues booting into Windows 8 (Win8 behave differently than Win7 during boot).

there is still no way to update the BIOS under win 8.1 UEFI. Is here any progress? I would expect that half a year will be enough to give some sort of solution to this problem.
