Can't flash BIOS - EVSA region space exhausted - error 236

Post by Dossogne »

I downloaded ipc_2.2.400.3.img.zip and made a bootable USB from it.
After some correctly displayed lines, the execution of BIOS_UPD.BAT ends up with:
"The EVSA region space is exhausted!"
"Error 236 - Failed to commit all changes into BIOS image!"

My IntensePC start again, but nothing has been modified, of course.

Could anybody help me with this? Thanks in advance.

System:
- IntensePC i7-3517UE @ 1,70 GHz
- upgrading from BIOS CR_2.2.0.400 X64

Thank you for sharing with us. We are checking these errors and reviewing the procedure. The responsible BIOS engineer will be back in office next week and will address this.
The computer operation should not be affected by this and you can keep working as usual.

Meanwhile you can try following a suggestions from one of the customers who run into this error, and I quote:
"I got error 236 – Failed to commit all changes into BIOS Image!
I opened the .bat file and typed the command manually without the other parameters than:

DosFlash.exe /file Bios.cap and it worked fine."

Thank you for your fast answer. It looks OK, but as flashing the Bios is no riskless operation (especially for a computer I can't get fixed by the reseller next door) and I don't understand the reach of the removed options, I decided to wait for a confirmation by your BIOS engineer. The upgrade can wait a few days…

We have released an update few weeks ago, under the same filename:
http://fit-pc.com/wiki/index.php/Intens ... _ROM_files

You can run the following commands:
BIOS_UPD.bat (will update the BIOS)
ME_UPD.bat (will update the ME)

If you wish to leave master access to SPI Flash (unlocked) you should not run the: ME_LOCK.bat (combines two routines - ME update and SPI flash lock)
