BIOS settings are usually saved in battery-backed CMOS. There are cases where the BIOS record gets corrupted. In that case BIOS will automatically restore default BIOS settings from flash memory. Below is the procedure for updating the default BIOS settings:

  1. Press DEL at power up to enter BIOS
  2. Make the changes in BIOS
  3. Select "Write to CMOS and Exit" (The settings are now saved to CMOS)
  4. Press DEL at power up to enter BIOS (leaving and reentering BIOS is mandatory at this stage!)
  5. Select "Save CMOS as Defaults" (The settings are now saved to flash)
