Graphics Driver GMA500 for XWindows ?????

Hi, We have tried to install Debian 6 & Ubuntu 8 with no results as the compilation fails....(the Kernel is compiled OK but the graphics driver crashed when we tried to compile it) We need to run XWindows in Linux with the driver for GT500. We can run it with VESA but it doesnt work efficiently so.....
