I'm running Ubuntu 12.04 with the IntensePC. I have a 60GB SSD drive a 8GB of RAM. When I hot remove some USB devices the IntensePC crashes with a kernel panic. Sometimes it crashes/freezes without any indication. Some USB ports are more problematic than others (for example, I don't use the right-most USB port on the front panel. In all cases the only recourse is hard reboot.
Any ideas on what can be causing this?

Re: USB device insertion crash
Do you face such scenarios with the Live systems as well?

Re: USB device insertion crash
I don't know what you mean by 'Live' system. I'm using a standard Ubuntu 12.04 desktop image. I'm running from a 60GB SSD drive. My problem is that plugging/unplugging usb devices can cause a crash/freeze.

You can find more about Live OS here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Live_CD
Please run some Live OS like Ubuntu Live, and try to reproduce your issue. It will help us to eliminate the software factor.
