black screen with NTDLR is missing message

We have a critical problem with FitPC2’s 1.1 and 1.6GHz installed inside a small system (voyage data recorder) what should work non-stop but after 5-9 hours of work the computer sticks. It happens on all 5 units we have. Black screen shows:
“NTDLR is missing
press CNTR+ALT+DEL to restart”
We have an external watch dog what breaks the power to the computer and USB devices when the system sticks but the system is not re-starting. After pressing on power button or power Off/On on input breaker the computer starts normally
XP Pro is installed on Seagate SATA 320Gb HDD, USB ports are connected to 1) USB flash memory where the system continuously writes data 2) USB grabber used for audio recording 3) USB serial card used for communication with PLC and external systems 4) touch screen.
Both back and front USB ports are in use.
Please advise a solution

Hello

If you have another HDD to test please transfer the system to it, and test the new system setup

Please update me with the results

Thanks

Dear gabrielh,
We have more question:
1.What is the maximum current consumption on Sata drive (for Fit-PC2)?
2. We can use the Toshiba drive with 5VDC 1Amp?
(currently drive in use is seagate with 5VDC 0.5 Amp)

1.What is the maximum current consumption on Sata drive (for Fit-PC2)?
There is no current limiter on SATA. I don't think it is an overcurrent issue - maximum current is when the disk spins-up, not after 5 hrs of operation.
2. We can use the Toshiba drive with 5VDC 1Amp?
(currently drive in use is seagate with 5VDC 0.5 Amp)
Yes.

Since the problem occurs consistently across systems after several hours of operation I suspect a SW/configuration issue. Seems like the IDE interface, SATA bridge or HDD gets into an unhandled state. The USB devices/device drivers may also play a role in the instability.

What to do -
- In BIOS set C-States to "GV3 only".
- If possible check with another hard disk
- Disable/disconnect the USB devices and see if the system is stable. If so, start reconnecting the devices one at a time until the system fails. Then focus on that specific device and its driver to work around the contention.

Best regards,

COULD YOU ADVISE A PROVEN HARD DISK MANUFACTURER AND MODEL WHAT HAS NO ISSUES IN FITPC2

Dozens of hard disks were tested with fit-PC2. I am not aware of any compatibility issue.
We recommend using 5400RPM hard disks (not 7200 RPM).
We ship with Hitachi HTS54x or Samsung SpinPoint.

We faced one more problem:
Fit-PC2 is switched ON (Power Led is ON) but not booting and not trying to start bios....
Only after switching OFF(5sec power button hold) and switch ON back the Fit-PC2 is start to work normally.

We have 6 USB devices are connected to the PC.
1. 4GB Flash drive (with external power).
2. USB serial card 4 ports (with external power).
3. Video/Audio Grabber (without external power).
4. HDMI Monitor Touch screen (with external power).
5. Keyboard.
6. Mouse

One hard drive, Seagate 250 Gb (5400 RPM).
One monitor HDMI.

P.S.
Our fit-pc2 is with auto on function.

Help Us to resolve this problem .

Doesn't look like overcurrent.
Please identify which of the USB devices when disconnected eliminates the problem.

Good news from the field. On One FitPC2 HDD has been replaced by SSD and it has been working for two weeks without problems. We started to install SSD on all 5 units.
