System lockups?

Post by TweeB »

I've recently received one unit of diskless fit-pc2 and installed a 7200rpm 120GB sata drive.

During software installation and high cpu load i've been experiencing system lockups. I've expercienced it in windows xp pro, service pack 3 during installation of various software packages. Similar lockups have been noticed using the fit-pc2 ubuntu image and windows 7 rc1. Installations appear to go through normally, but on higher system load (watching movies, software installation) the system locks up, with no other remedy then to remove the powerplug, or hold the powerbutton for several seconds.
I do not believe it to be a heat problem, at least the casing is warm, but not singing hot.

Any procedures on testing would be appriciated.

Do you have another hard drive (preferably 5400RPM) to test it, to rule out the hard drive problem?
