Ubuntu 14.04 power off

Post by ds00424 »

Hi folks.
Just set up my fitPC4 and loaded Ubuntu 14.04 on it. I noticed that when I issue a shutdown ("shutdown -h now") the OS shuts down, but the unit remains powered (the fitPC4 light stays lit). The same command on the fitPC3 (although on Ubuntu 13.10) would leave it in a power off state (fitPC3 light would turn off).

Was wondering if that is something with the fitPC4?
I may try imaging it to 13.10 and checking.
I assume it will behave similarly.

Thanks.
David

Your system is being brought down to a "halt" (-H), if you want to "power off" try using -P (-h lets the OS decide which it wants to do)
See www.explainshell.com/explain/8/shutdown and/or http://manpages.ubuntu.com/manpages/pre ... own.8.html

And FYI "shutdown" isn't available on many distros (and on some it requires an alternate syntax ) a more common command for powering the system off is poweroff -p
