Linux on IPC2 i7 barebone

Post by derek »

Not that the IPC2 i7 barebone is available for general sale yet but if I could order one, I would want to put Linux on it.

At this stage there is no information in the Wiki http://www.fit-pc.com/wiki/index.php/IPC2:_Software regarding Linux on the IPC2.

Will this information be forthcoming? If so, what distro and version? (I would be hoping for Ubuntu 14.04 LTS or Linux Mint 17 LTS.)

Is the information unnecessary because it works out-of-the-box?

Does anyone have any experience of running Linux on the IPC2 i7 barebone?

IPC2 official operating systems:
1. Windows 7 Pro, 64-bit
2. Linux Mint 16, 64-bit (or disto with identical kernel)

Please visit our wiki - you'll find a lot of info there:

No problem to run Linux on IPC2 or any other Compulab x86 system.

?

But that's "Supported until July 2014", which means it could be out of support before anyone can even buy the IPC2 i7 barebone.

Surely you are going to "upgrade" the official operating system to Linux Mint 17?

At this point it is Linux Mint 16. In the very near future Linux Mint 17 will be our official release (it is brand new).

BTW, you can even today download it and install it on the system if you wish!

I note that the Wiki still doesn't make mention of anything regarding Linux on IPC2.

Now it has:

Anyway, instructions are pretty similar to Intense PC systems.
