P-States?

Post by gaya »

Hi,

as the subject suggests... In the BIOS I can find 8 P-States. I have no idea what they do. Pstate 0 -Pstate 7. In the OS I can see the device is on 800MHz all the time, no matter whether I set Pstate 7 or 0. I only noticed with a wattmeter that P-State 0 comes up with one watt less of idle consumtion (7-8W compared to 8-9W). I'm trying to reduce the wattage of that device, so I thought I could go with higher P-States similar to the Sleep states, C-State.

To reduce power you can lower max TDP of CPU in BIOS and set mSATA to min-power.
