fitlet-H I/O same as regular fitlet?

Post by Arwen »

My fitlet-H order is in, may arrive this Thursday.

I need more storage for my media, (one reason I selected the fitlet-iA10
with it's eSATAp port). Given the choice between adding an external 2.5"
disk in a USB or eSATA chassis, or a fitlet-H, I decided to go for internal
storage.

I hope to extract my SO-DIMM and mSATA drive from my existing
fitlet-iA10 and simply install them into the fitlet-H.

Is the I/O the same?

Sure. Same SODIMM and mSATA should work in fitlet-H.

Great. Thanks. My fitlet-H arrived on schedule.

I had a chance to swap them out tonight. It was as painless as removing the mSATA
drive and SO-DIMM from my fitlet-iA10, then installing them in my new fitlet-H. The
serial console also works for Grub menu, boot messages and console logins.

Ran a ZFS pool scrub against about 575GBs, and it went great. Scrubs read every
used block and compare against ZFS' stored checksum for the block. Very I/O
intensive.

Now all I have to decide is what additional 2.5" drive to add, spinning or more flash.

PS, I had a moment of panic when I opened my fitlet-H. I could not find how to add a
2.5" disk :-(. But, it was on the cover I removed. Silly thing to miss :-).

Glad fitlet-H works well for you.
We put a great deal of thought into the design of the service door with HDD attached. I guess we should document it in a more public manner.
