M.2 2280 compatibility

Can some one please clarify M.2 2280 compatibility with Fitlet2. What setups do and do not work with 2280 cards? I want to install the FC-LAN with a 2280 card. Will this work?

On the website it works with M.2 M-key 2260 or 2242 but "M.2 2280 optional on some FACET cards". Elsewhere it states:
"Vanilla fitlet2 can take M.2 M-key 2260 / 2242 SATA SSDs.
Some FACETs (like FC-LAN, FC-USB) do not interfere with the SSD.
Some FACETs (like FC-CEL, FC-PCIe) allow installing M.2 M-key 2280 SATA SSDs."

I found this confusing. Does this mean you have to install FC-CEL or FC-PCIe to use 2280? Does the fact that FC-LAN "does not interfere" mean that it is possible to install an "M.2 M-key 2280 SATA SSDs" with an FC-LAN?

I ask because most M.2 cards for sale are 2280. There are not a lot of 2260 or 2242 options.

The fitlet2 by default doesn't support 2280 sized M.2 SSD storage device.
Some fitlet2 extension boards called FACETs, extend this ability to allow installing 2280 M.2.
Among them is the FC-PCI, FC-CEM and more.
You can read of the available FACETs and their respective features at:
