Disconnect HDMI cable in order to power on device!?

Post by fabbe72 »

Hi!

My fit-pc2 has an annoying problem.

In order to power the thing up, i have to disconnect HDMI cable while booting. If the HDMI cable is connected during the first sequence of the boot it simply wont start.

If i unplug the HDMI cable during memcheck etc, and then listen to the HDD to spin down between BIOS boot and Windows boot and replug the HDMI cable it starts just fine.

Anyone with a solution at hand?

Regards

This problem is not familiar.
What kind of display is connected?
What happens if the display is left connected but powered-off?
Can you try with another display connected?

Hi Irads!

It's the same problem with the display turned off and in standby, the display in question is a LCD TV from Zepto. HMDI-HDMI.

And it´s the same problem with hibernation. It will not wake form hibernation with HDMI cable attached. Win XP Pro.

The cable has to be physically disconnected in order to boot the computer.

Although using the provided HDMI-DVI adapter and plugging the fit-pc2 to my Dell 2410 display using DVI it works as intended.

Any ideas?

I tend to believe it is not a HW problem with your specific unit.
Are you certain the fit-PC2 does not boot, or it boots but does not display an image on this specific display?

In both cases I don't think there is something that can be done about it.

Yes, I'm sure it does not boot. It clicks a few times and then siezes to respond. The foremost indication is that it shuts down immediatly when pressing the power button.

Well, well not everything is perfect... that´s life...

I have the same problems when connecting my samsung syncmaster 225mw via HDMI. Despite that fact that I get no signal on the Samsung I can not boot up when connected from the beginning as you have described...

I informed engineering. Since we have not been able to reproduce the problem I cannot guarantee we can find a solution.
