fit-PC2i 2.0hz, 2GB, 160 GB HDD, Win 7 version. CRASH

Post by gunjar »

Recently purchased fit-2PCi from Compulab.
Got my PC tech to tranfer content and other programes from 7 1/2 year old power guzzling PC.

Brought fit-PC home, set it up, worked beautifully for 4 days (equiv 20 hours) but then switched itself off while I was working.

When I switched it back on I got a black screen for a long time(10mins) then grey screen,
then black with just
"Intel (r) Poulsbo PCI
Accellerated SVGA BIOS
etc
Then a silver and blue Intel Atom Inside screen with press f2 for system - - at the bottom - -

pressing f2 resulted in a black screen, not pressing F2 results in the Intel Atom screen remaining up indefinitely.

I've turned it off and on a few more times, same result eventualy gets to the Intel Atom inside screen, not responsive to anything.

When its switched on I can hear the hdd spinning and the green light comes on.

OK so can you tell me what has happened and how do I fix it, told simply as I'm not a tech head, and how to save my material and programmes (can't afford to get my PC tech to do it again) . . .

This is sent from my old power hungry PC, please don't tell me that my new, green fit-PC is already finished!

Check again if pressing F2 at start-up brings you to the BIOS settins screen.
If not - it is a HW problem with the motherboard, and the computer should be sent back to CompuLab for replacement.
If yes, it may be a disk problem or corrupted Windows 7.

I recommend backing-up your personal files before proceeding.

Thanks Irads,
I tried switching on again,
Black screen for aprox 5 mins (no response to F2)

Then Black screen with:
"Intel (r) Poulsbo PCI Accellerated SVGA BIOS
Decompilation or disassembly prohibited,
copyright . . . ." (no response to F2)

Then silver screen with blue 'Intel atom inside' logo in center
and in bottom left hand corner 'PRESS F2 to go to system utilities'

When I press F2 the instruction is replaced by 'Please wait' but after waiting 1 hour nother further happens.

Questions:

Is this what you mean by pressing F2 at startup?

if it is, then it needs returning

So how would you suggest backing up my personal materials when the PC is totaly unresponsive?

When returning the fit-PC do you want just the PC sent or all the peripherals (cables etc) that came with it as well?

regards
g

Please email rma@fit-pc.com about returning the unit for replacement.
CompuLab cannot preserve the data on your hard disk, as the computer will most likely be replaced.

If you need to back-up - take out the hard disk and copy your files.
