hi
i test windows 7 beta on fitpc2 and i'm realy suprise for the result
i want to know if it's possible to have hardware decoding capacities for hd videos on windows 7 ?
for example after purchasse power dvd 9 ?
or if they need one codec, calibrate or configuring any player ?
(like media player classic homecinema or windows media player 11)
thanks a lot
hd decode capacity
Re: hd decode capacity
Windows 7 has decode capbilities built-in. It is not yet on-par with CyberLink on XP but there is a lot of work going into it by Intel and the drivers improve quickly. I believe eventually it will play decently on WMP11/12

Hi irads.
Any news concerning HD decoding on Win7. Do we still need to buy XP machines to get hardware acceleration?

Re: hd decode capacity
With the new drivers Windows 7 decoding capabilities are very near those of Windows XP + PowerDVD SE.
We have yet to check ability to use .mkv splitters under Windows 7.

Re: hd decode capacity
Here are my results.
Win7 + Media Player Classic HomeTheatre + DXVA enabled.
1080p plays OK, CPU usage is ~30-60%.
But about once in a minute there are sound lags
Sound pauses fo a second or so. Does GPU fails to decode sound and video alltogether?

Re: hd decode capacity
Try disabling C-States in BIOS (set mode to GV3 only) and see if it has any effect.
