Post Auto-On Wake-On-LAN
I read the msgs on Auto-On and understand I need a special model to have this function. However I have not found any US distributer that offers the -ON model!

Also does the fitPC2 support WOL - Wake On LAN with a magic packet?

These features are essentail for use in remote locations

Both these features - auto-on and WOL - are supported in fit-PC2i

This is great news! I checked out the fitPC2i on your web site and noticed in the spec that it supports a full RS232 serial port. I am wondering where that port physically exists, or is this simply a USB-RS232 dongle?

Thanks for responding to what has apparently been on a lot of users minds regarding auto-on!

The RS232 port is on the front - where the IR receiver is in the fit-PC2.

fit-PC2 Owner's Manual printed 6-May-2009 clearly saying:

BIOS Setup Utility (page 9)
Booting over LAN (PXE)
Select Chipset Control Sub-Menu -> Gigabit LAN -> Enable
Select Chipset Control Sub-Menu -> LAN PXE BOOT -> Enable
Save settings and reboot

On top of page 10:

* LAN PXE BOOT - if enabled, PXE boot over LAN will be attempted

Boot
Booting over LAN (PXE) is enabled separately (see above)

All that imply the booting over LAN is supported. So my question is what exactly prevents WoL functionality in PC2? Please elaborate more (than just stating WoL and AMT (Intel vPro) technologies are not supported. What has been changed in PC2i regarding the Wake-on-LAN?

Edit:
1. So seems network booting should work. Does it work in fit-PC2?
2. WoL apparently doesn't work. Is this due the hardware, what specifically (not PCI 2.2 compliant motherboard, outdated BIOS, integrated ethernet adapter or its software)? Also, Intel Atom Z supports vPro so AMT with a remote control like Radmin should be possible, if not, what are the specific reasons? Thanks!

WoL does not work in fit-PC2 because the Ethernet controller is not powered in standby.
As far as I know vPro is not supported.

Is this because of power supply or motherboard or something else?
I noticed absence of normal Power Management settings in BIOS. Is this due to fit-PC customizations and disabled intentionally or the newer BIOS flash can help?

Intel lists Atom Z530 as supporting VT that is a part of vPro. Just wondering if it can be made workable, anyone?

Does fit-PC2i support vPro, specifically Intel AMT via Radmin tool?

Hi Irad,

regarding the fact, that the Manual says that WoL feature is enabled, but in realaty it is not, is there any new Owners Manual??
I mean it is rather confusing to write into the Manual that WoL is supported, and then it's not possible to use it?!

Thx

Do not confuse boot-over-network with wake-on-LAN.

Wake On LAN (after OS shutdown) does not work on my fit-PC2i rev 1.2

Any ideas?
