Post Re: fit PC2i Wireless Access Point in Linux?
@Evilworm,
That is some good news!
Would the same go for the Fitpc2 miniPCIe wifi chipset (RT3090) ?
I'm looking for a way to get that into master mode, without much luck.
I ended up with the same results you described in your earlier post (the 5 steps).
(none of the drivers I found seemed to support master mode)

Could you list what steps one would have to follow to get this working?
(or how I could achieve this on my fitpc2)

It looks like kernel built in RT2800USB driver for rt3070 chip has finally reached a stable stage in the "wireless-testing" git tree (kernel 2.6.37-wl)... it is no more marked as "non-functuional" and "intended for testers and developers". I can confirm that the driver is working very well together with hostapd daemon in Access Point (master) mode with WEP encryption.

Is the driver already included in Kernel 2.6.38?

The driver is in mainline kernel 2.6.39+ . However the system tends to hang once a day without any dumps. Not sure why that is happening, but I suspect that it might be the wifi driver bug. It was working without crashes @ 2.6.37-wl, but I had to upgrade because of some other issues.
