I tried to get the RT3070USB to work with rt3070 driver from ralink.com. I think my device was defective.
At kernel bootup it pauses a couple of time and I got this messages:

Code: Select all

[ 16.996033] usb 1-7: device descriptor read/64, error -110
[ 32.212031] usb 1-7: device descriptor read/64, error -110

[ 83.572042] hub 1-0:1.0: unable to enumerate USB device on port 7
And at lsusb I cannot see it anymore:

Code: Select all

Bus 003 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub

Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub
Any idea, what I can do?

Problem solved yesterday!
Shutdown and reboot after a couple of time were not enough. Yesterday I accidentally pull out the power plug. Now the kernel boots straightly again. I already bought another wifi usb-adapter, so I won't try any more to get the rt3070 work in next time.
