BIOS doesn't recognize Logitech wireless USB keyboard/mouse

Hello, can anyone help me out here?
I swapped my hard disk and on booting the first time, Win XP (SP3) launched but got stuck on recognising new hardware, amongst others I assume the keyboard/mouse combo.
I had to turn off the power and tried booting again. Since then, the keyboard is no longer recognised, and I cannot get into the BIOS.
I have a master password on the HD which I cannot enter, because the keyboard is not working ...
I haven't got an other KB around to try that out, and the serial/USB adapter did not help either.
The KB is plugged in directly, not through a USB hub.
I tried the KB on an other computer and it works.
What's the solution ?
Thanks
